Hilo, HI Hilo, HI Temporary Temporary $41,016 a year $41,016 a year 22 hours ago 22 hours ago 22 hours ago Duties Summary Supervises and participates in work involving the processing of water service applications, the maintenance of customer service records, the initiation and adjustment of service charges, and the handling of inquiries and complaints; and performs other related duties as required.
There is one (1) immediate permanent full-time vacancy with the Department of Water Supply - Finance Division in Hilo.
The eligible list may be used for other permanent and temporary vacancies as they arise during the life of the list.
Temporary appointment may lead to conversion to permanent appointment.
Examples of Duties Supervises and participates in, and/or regularly performs difficult and complex work in processing applications or requests for establishing, transferring, or discontinuing water services; furnishing information on water charges; and explaining regulations and policies relating to water service matters.
Handles the more difficult complaints, inquiries, and problems that may require considerable follow-up and research to resolve.
Initiates request for and reviews results of field investigations of high water bill complaints.
Reconstructs the billing process and, as necessary, recommends billing adjustments based on investigations and other findings; notifies service holder of same and prepares adjustment authorizations.
Determines and assigns service codes.
Oversees the maintenance and updating of customer service records to ensure that service history and service holder card files are kept current and accurate.
May supervise and participate in reading water meters and recording readings manually in meter books, or using hand held or automatic meter reading devices to read meters.
Advises and informs consumers of policies and regulations applicable to obstructions on or around water meters; may be required to trim shrubs or grass to read water meter.
Detects and reports evidences of water leakage, damaged meters, and outlets.
Assists in developing and revising procedures and forms to improve and simplify work systems.
Assists in instructing new employees on work processes and procedures.
Prepares correspondence as required.
Operates vehicle to conduct investigations and assist with meter reading.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification Requirements Training and
Experience:
A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to:
graduation from high school, and three (3) years of experience in customer service work, and a valid State of Hawai i driver's license (Class 3) or any other valid comparable driver's license at the time of filing.
(You will be required to submit your valid driver's license at time of hire.
) Examination:
All applicants who meet the minimum qualification requirements will be assigned a score of 70 points.
